Woke up feeling great (thank you antibiotics) and it was time to boot scoot to Mt Rushmore. Our first stop outside of Austin was a gas station with Texas long horns :-).
As we were driving along I kept seeing these signs for "Wall Drug" I broke down and finally asked DH, " what the hell is this wall drug thing." Come to find out it is a really cute tourist trap. So we bought in and pulled in right in the middle of the badlands of South Dakota. We road jackalopes, saw a t-rex and got some much needed dinner. So over the last almost century the drug store in the town of Wall, SD has been trying to give travelers a reason to stop. The story began around the time of the great depression, they kept seeing people travel seeking working and nothing was giving anyone a reason for them to stop. So, they offered the tired and hungry free iced water and five cent coffee and they still do!
The next big stop was 1880s town this is where they shot Dances with Wolves, the only problem was... they were closed. So DH hopped on a wooden pillar to take a photo over a 8ft fence and that was all we got. It was better than nothing and was still neet we saw the set that was used over and over for so many westerns.
We also got some great photos of a storm that blew in and through some hail at us. Thankfully it was not ours, but we saw a 5th wheel that was flipped and blown over by the highway.

I have traveled this area and it is sure beautiful!
