Day 5

Last night we stayed at a KOA that was completely full, but the owner let us stay anyways. We set up in a field after filling up with a bit of water and had a lovely stay. I wrote the owner  a thank you note because she went above and beyond by letting us spend the night.

The next morning we drove out to an amathyst mine. Apparently this is the hot bed for amathysts. It was great, the family had owned it for several generations. So we found out that in order for them to make the dig for your own mineral, they do a bit of tnt blasting and scoop out what comes loose for folks like us to dig in. We walked away with beautiful specimens that I hopefully will make a few things out of.

Next we went due south to the states again. Luckily the first place I called had one site left for us to stay. It happened to be right on the lake. We walked main street, stopped at a brewery and we're able to snap some pics before it go too dark.

Let's hope the fourth of July treats us this nice.
